Flowers brighten up a room and most people love receiving them. But regularly taking flowers can have an unexpected benefit for CVS volunteers visiting in Aged Care Facilities.
Margaret visited Flora for over 10 years and she took flowers from her own garden on almost every visit. It became an important part of the visits. So when Flora went through a difficult time and Margaret found her sleepy and unable to wake for a chat, the flowers left in her room were a message to her that Margaret had visited. Flora knew that her friend still cared and was thinking of her.
A few weeks later Flora was back to her usual chatty self, enjoying Margaret’s company as well as her flowers.
